Days twenty five and six

i might have mislaid a couple of days .. any road up ,, Josh and I had Miller Green's cottage pie for lunch ... he likes it more than the meaty version and so do I ... blinkin excellent ..

Last day of veganuary and I reckon I'll definitely be eating less meat and dairy but I haven't got the staying power for a totally vegan diet ::: butter, milk, chocolate are just too irreplaceable but not entirely, love cashew milk on muesli and olive oil is often as good if not better than butter.

Days twenty three and four

Gawd, I've lost track of time.. just to say that I've had the best two light healthy lunches EVER with Miller Greens walnut and lentil pate, the greatest fresh salad and oatcakes ... this evening followed by co yo and raspberry coulis, this could be addictive

Days twenty one and twenty two

not a great deal to say about twenty one but this end of day twenty two has been made marvellous for a moment ,, well a few moments when I got in from swimming and ate a kind of mushroom pastry parcel which I really should have saved for supper but it was just so good I inhaled the whole thing Miller Green, blinkin brilliant .. now Thai Massaman 💥💥💥!!! yay

Monday 23 January 2017

Days nineteen and twenty

Thank God Miller Green make the best salads, I make the worst.   Theirs added to oatcakes and hummus just work.

Today I sat and watched my friends eat roast lamb while I was happily consigned to a vegetable parcel - pastry!!! This and two cakes over the last two days that I find hard to believe are vegan, have given me fresh heart

Days seventeen and eighteen

and I'm back!  Miller Green is very forgiving and has allowed me back despite major transgressions ( I blame Lindt )  The thing is, as mentioned yesterday - in case anyone is reading this, is anyone reading this ? - I have noticed that aching muscles - nb muscles not joints - have ceased to ache since this diet and started to ache again after transgressions.  Dairy thing still tough at breakfast but am making it happen.  Sue Miller, you are amazing ❤❤❤

Wednesday 18 January 2017

Day sixteen

Farewell then ... Cornwall proved the last er... ANYWAY... it was great and my aches disappeared aND I think I will definitely eat less meat, particularly the red sort - had some this eve and I nearly hurled.  Thank you so much Sue Miller and Miller Green, lovely lovely nosh and I salute you and I'm sorry I just can't keep it up.. ❤❤❤

Tuesday 17 January 2017

Days fourteen & fifteen

Epic Fail.  Clearly I am not up to 100% veganism ( is that a word ?).  A couple of minor (un-confessed ) transgressions - milk in tea, a rogue revel or two on a long walk ( they [friends] forced me, honest officer) - were clearly preludes ( might as well be hanged for a sheep as a lamb ) to total transgression here in Cornwall, to whit: toast with butter and last night, rubicon properl crossed, fresh fish... aaaargh.  So, sorry, I guess I'm done :-/

Sunday 15 January 2017

Days twelve and thirteen

Yesterday to Ogmore with packed lunch which turned out to be 2 bags of crisps my plans to decant one of Miller Green's curries into a Tupperware box scuppered by the box being cracked. Friend takes pity on me and am treated to oatcakes with possibly the most delicious salad I've had in at least a half year.  Doesn't other people's food always taste better ?

Invitation to dinner on glassboat declined but fear not walnut and lentil pate on toast with pickled veg followed by nine jewel curry utterly marvellous.

Let's not talk about breakfast.  Lunch chez Sue H a bit of a trial as I watched  ( and more to the point smelled ) roast chicken being served and eaten .. difficult. Thai massaman did its magic though so i managed.

Tomorrow to Cornwall for a few days and staying with friends ... this is going to be tricky

Friday 13 January 2017

Day eleven

okay, toast with coco mega and sea salt great but not with marmalade.. a trip to marks required to buy their non dairy spread, closest thing according to Gemma my co veganuarist.  Meanwhile my fridge has three different non milk milks, coconut, almond and cashew.  It's gonna be muesli in't mornin.

Great dinner of tomato cassoulet.  Tomorrow's walk along a Welsh beach is going to be a challenge as have to take packed lunch .  At the moment most likely is avocado sandwich, damn, wish I'd bought that chilli sauce.

Thursday 12 January 2017

Day ten ( part two )

Butter... what to do. ..have taken advice and tried coco mega with a little sea salt and it works, really works.  .. thanks Sue Miller x

Day ten ( what happened to day nine?)

well day nine slid by and intentions to report on it retrospectively have been obliterated by my just having eaten possibly the BEST CuRry I've ever had...Thai Massuman .. fan effing tastic.. thank you Miller Green... I might manage this

Tuesday 10 January 2017

Day eight

A dodgy moment with crumpets chez Richard :-/

Supper of cottage pie - lentil mix with potato and sweet potato top was good hot and I'm just now finding out that it's even better cold .

It's marmalade time tomorrow and it definitely qualifies.

Day seven

highlight: millergreen walnut and lentil pate with pickled vegetables, fantastic
lowlight: feeding fragrant sausages to Poppy to reward her for her medicine
medium light: lapsed with milk in tea

Monday 9 January 2017

Day six

The gift of a box of tea from fortnums and a really grumpy morning provoke a lapse, a little milk in tea, wtf!  Along with the whey powder in the biscuits and the gelatine in the rowntrees pastilles ( ok I confess, I had four late the night before)  I'm no longer technically vegan.  Is it a bit like not being quite a virgin?  Anyway I'm mostly vegan and loving the food.  Today a friend came for lunch and he loved it too.  Sainsbury Taste the Diff morello cherry compote with soya yoghurt and tiny bit of granola is a great pud.. wait a minute, honey in the granola ?? arg

Saturday 7 January 2017

Day five

Is anyone reading this?  Brilliant butterbean concoction on toast with fab fresh dressed leaves for lunch, Moroccan chickpea with couscous for supper.  Confession: ate cracker snack that turned out to have whey powder in them ..  I'm not going to be hardline vegan .. I failed to ask the barman if my jäger was vegan and I have no intention of ever doing so.  Is this the thin end of a wedge that leads to meat?  No.  Not yet

Friday 6 January 2017

Day four

hmmmmm.. drank too much coffee after my muesli and cashew milk ( Peter wants to know how you milk a cashew nut btw ) so had no appetite for lunch .. much.. so water biscuits and peanut butter sufficed till six when dahl with vegetables and rice were perfect,, forgot to get brinjal pickle though ... durr.

Thursday 5 January 2017

Day three

gelatine :-( If that makes no sense refer to day two.

Breakfast: no tea.  Muesli with cashew milk.  I ❤ cashew milk but not in tea.

Lunch excellent veg curry  ( Miller Green thanks again ,, hereinafter all main meals by lovely them ) shared with Vic who added baby Brussel sprouts and brinjal pickle, must get some of those and  that.

Invited for dinner at neighbours who says ' you can eat spaghetti Bol right?'  ' yeah of course ' I say and think I just have to have no cheese ,,  er, hold on, that's not right.  Take own Sri Lankan gorgeous green curry and add a bit of mango chutney.. fab.  Maybe I could get used to this.  Just have to forget about tea.

To Sainsbury where I buy cashew milk on offer ( yay) , apro soya yoghurt ( on offer) and taste the diff cherry compote ( not on offer but so worth it ) , breakfast now sorted

Wednesday 4 January 2017

Day two

This time for breakfast try frying bread in a teeeeeeny bit of olive oil as recommended by Alison Ely...this is ok but wonder if I'm wasting celestial marmalade on bereft of butter toast.. luxury probs sent to try.  Tea is better ( with same milk ), though am rapidly arriving at conclusion that coffee is acceptable with alt milk but tea is just not.

Lunch of Moroccan chickpea thing with couscous delicious and has left me not in need of hot supper so Buddha bowl of veg enough ...with toast ... and followed by rowntrees fruit pastille....and preceded  by Carr's. water biscuits and peanut butter..hold on, I'd better check the ingredients on those pastilles. That's your cliff-hanger right there....

Tuesday 3 January 2017

Day one

Attempt normal breakfast of tea and toast substituting milk and butter with coconut milk and coco mega 'spread'.  Suspect I got wrong milk, tea too strong and thin but acceptable on weakening .. toast ok.  Gosh this is interesting .....

So far so ok :-/ ( not far at all )
